10 Corso Como Milan

I was at 10 Corso Como Milan Spring/Summer ’19 display and it wasn’t disappointing at all. My journey in Sustainable fashion is so green and completely new so at the moment, I am navigating and very curious about anything I see that can relate to Sustainability in the Fashion industry.
I was in Milan the other day and explored this place. 10 Corso Como is not just a mere shopping destination; it’s a multi-functional space that blends fashion, art, music, design, and cuisine into one beautiful experience. I think for a lover of sustainable fashion, visiting this iconic concept store could be a journey of discovery, inspiration, and reaffirmation of the endless possibilities within eco-conscious fashion.

Founded in 1991 by Carla Sozzani, a celebrated gallerist and former fashion editor, 10 Corso Como set out to create a “living magazine,” an open and ever-changing space where people could experience art and culture interwoven with luxury and style. The 13,000 sqm store houses a vast collection of curated fashion pieces, home decor, books, and artworks that celebrate creativity and craftsmanship. What sets 10 Corso Como apart is its commitment to showcasing designers and artists who are pioneers in their industries, including those pushing the boundaries of sustainable fashion.

I am not yet 100% committed to Sustainable fashion but can already see myself exploring this much further because I think Sustainability is not just a passing trend.
The shop attendant told me that at 10 Corso Como, sustainability has found its way through various collaborations, events, and the very items curated on their racks and shelves.

One of the standout aspects of sustainability at 10 Corso Como is their collaboration with eco-conscious brands and designers. For example, I noticed collections from Stella McCartney, a trailblazer in sustainable luxury fashion, who uses ethically sourced materials and innovative, eco-friendly production techniques. Similarly, the store features pieces from Vivienne Westwood, known for her commitment to the “buy less, choose well, make it last” philosophy.

Another remarkable encounter was with the range of eco-friendly accessories. Bags made from vegan leather and shoes created from innovative materials like upcycled ocean plastic were elegantly displayed, proving that luxury need not come at the cost of the environment.

10 Corso Como isn’t just about fashion; their café also embodies the principles of sustainability. The menu is curated with locally sourced, organic ingredients. As I sipped on a freshly brewed espresso, served in compostable cups, I could taste the quality and care that went into every detail of this exceptional place.

Here I learned how high-end fashion can coexist with environmentally friendly practices. By championing designers who prioritize sustainability, the concept store encourages consumers to make more conscious choices.

In addition, I was informed that 10 Corso Como regularly hosts events and exhibitions that emphasize the importance of sustainability in fashion. An invite was extended to me to a gathering that offered insights into the latest innovations and techniques in eco-friendly design, creating a culture of awareness and responsibility among its visitors.

Visiting 10 Corso Como in Milan was more than my usual trips; it was an educational and inspirational experience that reinforced my curiosity in sustainable fashion. This concept store exemplifies how we can enjoy luxury without compromising our responsibility towards the environment.

As we move forward, I would like to announce that I will be doing my research on Sustainability in the Fashion industry and exploring responsible travel deeper because after 10 years of seeing every continent, fast shopping, and leading consumers into buying more than they need, it’s time for me to be better and do better.

This will not be an easy journey because I will have to delete and stop any partnerships with fast fashion brands but I will take it one day at a time and hope that you will be here learning with me.
